Battery Energy Storage Projects Announced in Michigan and Rajasthan
LG Energy Solution Vertech signed a supply agreement with DTE Energy to install battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Michigan. The deal covers eight projects delivering up to 6 GWh of storage capacity, with battery cells sourced from LG facilities in the United States and Canada. Commercial operation of the first projects is targeted for the first quarter of 2029, expanding DTE’s existing storage portfolio.
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) issued an EPC tender for a total of 7,800 MWh of BESS at the NTPC REL Bikaner Solar Plant in Rajasthan, India. The tender is split into five blocks, including a 500 MW/2,000 MWh block and four smaller blocks ranging from 300 MW/1,200 MWh each. Bidders must meet performance specifications such as a minimum 80% round‑trip efficiency, 98% annual availability, and a 25‑year design life. The tender deadline is June 25, 2026.
