Battlefield 6 releases Top Gun crossover update and Wake Island

Battlefield 6 has released update 1.4.2.0, a major content expansion for Season 4 featuring a crossover event with the Top Gun franchise. The update introduces several new elements, including the return of the iconic Wake Island map and new game modes such as Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep.

Key additions include two-seater cooperative jets, the F/A-81F Super Spectre and the F-74A Seacat, as well as the Interdictor sniper rifle. The Top Gun collaboration also brings voice acting from actors Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, and Charles Parnell. To promote the update, Electronic Arts is offering a free one-week trial of the multiplayer component from August 18 to August 25, 2026.

Despite the new content, some players have reported technical issues, specifically graphics driver crashes on PC when playing on maps with large water surfaces. Electronic Arts is currently working with NVIDIA to resolve these stability problems.
