Battlefield 6 launches Top Gun crossover and free trial

Electronic Arts has launched a major update for Battlefield 6, featuring a significant crossover with the Top Gun franchise developed in partnership with Paramount Games Studio. The update, part of Season 4, introduces characters voiced by their original actors, including Lt. Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw, Lt. Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd, and Adm. Solomon ‘Warlock’ Bates. New gameplay elements include the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre fighter jets, alongside the ‘Top Gun: Carrier Strike’ mode.

To coincide with this release, a free trial period is available across all platforms from August 18 until August 25. During this window, players can access various maps, including the returning classic Wake Island and the expanded Tsuru Reef.

The timing of the free trial overlaps with the beta period for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a move seen by industry analysts as a strategic competitive maneuver by EA to attract players during its rival's testing phase.
