Battlefield 6 announces Top Gun crossover and Wake Island return

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have announced a major crossover update for Battlefield 6 featuring the Top Gun franchise, scheduled for release on August 18, 2026. The update, which is part of Season 4, includes the return of the classic Wake Island map, rebuilt to emphasize naval, land, and aerial combat.

Key features of the update include two new two-seater combat jets, the F-74A Seacat and the F/A-81F Super Spectre, allowing for cooperative pilot and weapons systems gameplay. The collaboration also introduces new game modes such as ‘Carrier Strike’, focused on destroying enemy aircraft carriers, and ‘Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep’, a specialized aerial combat mode for the REDSEC battle royale component.

Players can also interact with characters from the Top Gun films, including Lt. Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw, Lt. Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd, and Adm. Solomon ‘Warlock’ Bates, with voice acting provided by the original film actors. The update will also feature new weaponry, such as the Interdictor sniper rifle, and various cosmetic items inspired by the movie franchise.
