Battlefield Studios announces Season 5 roadmap for Battlefield 6

During a recent Discord Q&A, Battlefield Studios confirmed that development of Battlefield 6 will continue beyond the upcoming Season 5, which the studio calls the largest in the game's history. While the new season will bring a server‑browser tool and a consolidated matchmaking playlist, the developers ruled out any private‑server rental service, stating that external providers will not be allowed to host paid private servers.

The studio also revealed several gameplay additions: a partnership with the Top Gun brand will introduce two‑seat F/A‑81F Super Spectre jets and functional aircraft carriers, while updated large‑scale environmental destruction and refreshed maps such as New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields are slated for Season 5. Ongoing work includes netcode stability improvements, weapon and vehicle balance tweaks, and the continued evolution of Battlefield Portal tools.
