Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed meets Oyo Governor Makinde on school abductions
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed travelled to Ibadan on Sunday and met Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the latter’s residence. Accompanied by leaders of the Allied People’s Movement, including national chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle and governorship candidate Yakubu Adamu, Mohammed expressed solidarity with Oyo over the recent kidnapping of teachers and pupils in the Yawota and Esinele communities of Oriire Local Government Area.
He praised Makinde’s efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims and urged continued action, stating, “We are here to encourage him that what he is doing to ensure their release is being noticed by the whole nation.” Mohammed also called for a review and restructuring of Nigeria’s security architecture to better protect citizens and improve coordination among security agencies.
The meeting underscored growing concerns about banditry and school kidnappings in Nigeria’s northwest, with both governors pledging further cooperation to ensure the safe return of the hostages.
