German players react to Jürgen Klopp's national team selections

German players Matthias Ginter and Oliver Baumann have reacted to their omissions from the national team squads selected by new head coach Jürgen Klopp for the upcoming Nations League matches.

TSG Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann stated that while he was not included in the initial squad, Klopp “has not closed the door” regarding future opportunities. Baumann expressed his continued readiness to represent Germany, despite the disappointment of being sidelined during the previous World Cup cycle under Julian Nagelsmann.

Defender Matthias Ginter, currently playing for SC Freiburg, also discussed his absence following a conversation with Klopp. Ginter noted that while his performances are being recognized, his age is a significant factor in the decision-making process as the team looks toward future tournaments. He described the conversation as “very good and appreciative.”

Klopp’s selection strategy for the Nations League involves utilizing two distinct squads to manage player workload and gain a broader overview of the talent pool. The upcoming fixtures include matches against the Netherlands, Greece, and Serbia.
