Bautzen hosts dementia awareness and exchange event

An information and exchange event focused on dementia was held in Bautzen under the motto ‘Dementia – walking the path together’. Organized by four providers of the Bautzen district nursing network, the event brought together professionals, relatives, and students to learn about available support services.

Key discussions emphasized the importance of respectful interaction with those living with dementia. A central theme was the use of personal biographies to better understand and support patients, helping caregivers interpret behaviors through the lens of an individual's life history. The event also featured a reading regarding Auguste Deter, the first documented Alzheimer's patient.
