Germany braces for 40 °C heat wave as heat dome advances
Meteorologists warn that a persistent heat dome moving east from southwestern Europe could push temperatures across Germany to 40 °C by early August. The German Weather Service and several forecast models cite a 46 % probability that the high‑pressure system will bring extreme heat, with peak values of 35‑40 °C forecast for regions from Bavaria and Aachen to Frankfurt, Saxony and Bremen.
The situation is compounded by ongoing drought, dried riverbeds and heightened wildfire risk.
