Germany weather: Severe storms and heavy rain warnings issued

Severe weather warnings have been issued across several German regions. The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) has warned of heavy thunderstorms, intense rainfall, and strong winds affecting southern and southeastern Bavaria. In these areas, rainfall could reach between 25 and 40 liters per square meter, accompanied by storm or hurricane-force gusts of 100 to 120 km/h. There is also a noted risk of hail and potential tornado activity in southern Germany.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, heavy rainfall is expected, with localized amounts potentially reaching up to 35 liters per square meter. Baden-Württemberg is also facing unstable weather, including heavy rain and thunderstorms, which has already resulted in traffic accidents on the A5 motorway, causing serious injury to one individual.

While much of the country faces unsettled conditions with showers and thunderstorms, some regions may see a return to warmer temperatures following these weather fronts.
