Munich Airport area search underway for suspected puma
Authorities in Bavaria have launched a large-scale search operation near Munich Airport following reports of a possible puma sighting. The animal was reportedly spotted by a hunter using night-vision equipment in the Notzinger Moos nature reserve in the municipality of Oberding.
Police have deployed helicopters, drones, and numerous officers to search the area, though the animal has not yet been located. The Erding District Office stated that, based on an initial expert assessment, the sighting could indeed be a puma. Officials have not yet confirmed the species, noting that previous reports of large cats in Germany have often turned out to be false alarms involving domestic animals or even toys.
Local residents are being urged to exercise caution. Authorities have advised parents not to let small children play outside unsupervised and have requested that dog owners keep their pets on leashes while in the vicinity of the nature reserve. The police are asking anyone with information regarding the animal's location to contact them immediately.
