Weather transition in Bavaria and Allgäu

Overview

The Allgäu and broader Bavarian regions are transitioning from unseasonably warm, sunny weather to much cooler, wetter conditions.

Following temperatures reaching up to 25 degrees Celsius, the German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts a significant shift. Starting mid-week, clouds and heavy rain are expected to arrive, particularly along the Alpine edge. Temperatures are projected to drop sharply, with highs falling to between 13 and 18 degrees Celsius in some areas, and potentially reaching single digits by mid-October.

A notable aspect of this weather shift is the rapid descent of the snowfall line. Forecasts indicate the line may drop to approximately 1,500 meters on Thursday and could fall as low as 1,000 meters by Friday night, signaling an early onset of winter conditions in the Bavarian Alps.

As of October 8, the weather shift is expected to bring heavy rain, specifically along the Alpine edge. In locations such as Kempten, Füssen, and Oberstdorf, highs are projected to fall to between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius. Further cooling is anticipated through the weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching 11 degrees Celsius, while several locations may see single-digit temperatures by mid-October.
