Bavarian firms face widening skilled‑labour shortage as recruitment platforms step in

A Munich‑based company, Liebl & Frank, has launched the recruiting system mitarbeiter.io® to help construction, craft and industrial firms improve regional visibility and pre‑screen candidates. The platform aims to match employers with suitable skilled workers before job ads are posted, reducing time spent on unsuitable applications.

A study commissioned by the Bavarian Business Association projects a gap of about 290,000 workers in the state by 2035, with estimates ranging from 210,000 to 330,000 depending on economic scenarios. The shortfall is driven by retirements of large cohorts and insufficient youth intake, especially in the northern and northeastern regions. Sectors most affected include transport‑vehicle operation, cleaning, and building‑technical trades, while some fields such as marketing, forestry and scientific professions may see a surplus. Stakeholders recommend activating domestic potential through education and childcare, as well as targeted migration and faster integration of refugees to mitigate the deficit.
