Bavarian libraries receive school partnership awards

Several libraries in Bavaria have been awarded the “Bibliotheken – Partner der Schulen” (Libraries – Partners of Schools) seal of quality for the 2026–2028 period. The distinction recognizes institutions that demonstrate exceptional cooperation with schools to enhance reading, media, and information literacy among children and adolescents.

Among the recipients are the Reit im Winkl municipal library and the Würzburg City Library. The Würzburg City Library has received the award annually since 2009. In total, 70 libraries across Bavaria were honored, including 13 academic, 24 church-public, and 33 municipal libraries.

Bavarian Ministers Markus Blume and Anna Stolz participated in the recognition, emphasizing that libraries serve as vital extracurricular learning spaces. The awards highlight the importance of providing equitable access to both analog and digital media to foster educational opportunities regardless of a student's background.
