Bavarian region celebrates youth creativity and dialect heritage with awards

The Landkreis Augsburg presented the Jugendkulturpreis 2026 at the district administration’s Grand Hall, honoring young creators under the theme “You are different? Me too!”. Nineteen works submitted by more than 200 children and teenagers were judged, with winners receiving prizes for painting, audio drama, and sculpture projects.

In the same year, the Dr. Eugen Liedl Foundation awarded the Mundartpreis 2026 to the Grundschule Mönchsdeggingen and Max May­ershofer of Tapfheim for their efforts to preserve the Schwäbisch dialect. The ceremony highlighted the cultural value of regional speech, featured performances by the school choir, and emphasized the prize’s aim to promote research and care of local dialects.

Both events underscored the importance of cultural participation among youth and the preservation of regional language heritage in Bavaria.
