Bayerische Staatsoper announces 2026/27 season
The Bavarian State Opera and Bavarian State Ballet have announced their 2026/27 season, which will feature a strong emphasis on both Wagnerian works and contemporary opera.
Key productions include the final two parts of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, ‘Siegfried’ and ‘Götterdämmerung’, with director Tobias Kratzer planning to adapt the three parts to align with ‘Götterdämmerung’. Tenor Benjamin Bruns is set to perform the role of Siegfried.
The season also highlights modern works, including John Adams’ ‘Doctor Atomic’, conducted by Gemma New, and Britten’s ‘Death in Venice’. Other scheduled productions include the premiere of Diana Syrses’ ‘Liberty’ and works by Georg Nigl and Georg Friedrich Haas.
