Bayern Munich blocks Joao Palhinha move to Aston Villa
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that transfer negotiations with Aston Villa for midfielder Joao Palhinha have reached a standstill. While Aston Villa sought a loan deal to bolster their defense following injuries, Bayern Munich is insisting on a permanent sale. Eberl stated, “It simply does not work, because we are not in a situation where we have to do everything that others try to impose on us.”
Following the breakdown in talks with Villa, Newcastle United has emerged as a serious contender for the 31-year-old Portuguese international. Reports suggest Newcastle has offered a concrete three-year contract. Bayern Munich is reportedly willing to accept a fee of approximately 25 million euros for Palhinha, a significant reduction from his original 51 million euro acquisition cost, but the club remains firm on avoiding further loan arrangements.
