Bayern Munich president addresses Florian Wirtz transfer rumors

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has addressed speculation regarding a potential transfer for Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz. Following Wirtz's high-profile move from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for approximately £116 million ($158 million), the player has struggled to replicate his previous form in the Premier League.

Hainer expressed sympathy for the German international, stating, “I almost feel a little sorry for him that he hasn’t yet reached the same form in England that he had at Leverkusen, because we also need him for the German national team.” Despite the rumors of a return to Germany, Hainer clarified that Bayern Munich is not currently planning a move for the player, noting that the club possesses a “top-class squad” and is satisfied with its current roster.

At Liverpool, reports suggest head coach Andoni Iraola is facing challenges as Wirtz has struggled to adapt to the physicality of English football, leading to discussions regarding his role in the starting lineup.
