Bayraktar TB3 completes sonobuoy launch test from TCG Anadolu
The Bayraktar TB3 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) has successfully completed a sonobuoy launch test while operating from the TCG Anadolu ship. The test was conducted as part of the TURNAs-2026 exercise held between October 19 and 27.
During the mission, the Bayraktar TB3 utilized the Baykar Sonobuoy Launch System (SAS POD) to deploy sonobuoys. These sensors are used to collect acoustic signals from the ocean to detect and track submarines, playing a critical role in anti-submarine warfare (ASW).
This successful deployment demonstrates the capability of ship-based unmanned aerial vehicles to support maritime operations by complementing manned patrol aircraft and surface vessels in underwater surveillance and data processing.
