Bayside Shakedown: New film installment to premiere in September 2026

The latest installment of the popular film series, ‘Bayside Shakedown: N.E.W. Metropolis o Kakenukero!’, is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026. To mark the premiere, a live nationwide broadcast of the opening day stage greeting will be held at United Cinemas, including appearances by lead actor Yuji Oda, director Katsuyuki Motohiro, and various cast members.

In this new chapter, which arrives 14 years after the previous film, Yuji Oda reprises his role as Shunsaku Aoshima. Moving from the Wangan Station to the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division, Aoshima now holds the rank of Assistant Inspector. The plot involves a series of complex cases, including a kidnapping and a continuous murder investigation involving 3D-printed firearms.

Oda noted in an interview that the series has maintained its appeal through a collaborative, ‘theatre troupe-like’ atmosphere among the cast. He also expressed a desire to continue playing the character as long as he remains a functional asset to the production and avoids becoming a ‘hindrance’ due to age.
