Baznas distributes food aid in Jakarta and earns religious award for remote outreach

The Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) of Indonesia distributed 4,000 ready‑to‑eat meal packages to poor residents and vulnerable daily‑wage workers in the Pasar Rebo area of East Jakarta on May 17‑18, 2026. The distribution was part of Baznas's Food Bank program and involved the army's Yonif 201 Jaya Yudha unit operating a field kitchen. Local market vendors supplied the ingredients, allowing the initiative to support low‑income traders while providing nutritious food.

Separately, Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs honored Baznas with an award for its contribution to dakwah (Islamic outreach) in the country's 3T (remote, underdeveloped, and frontier) regions. Ministry director Muchlis M. Hanafi praised Baznas for building a sustainable dakwah ecosystem, and Baznas chair Sodik Mudjahid pledged to deepen collaboration with the ministry to expand religious and humanitarian services nationwide.
