Baznas implements social aid and business capital programs in Indonesia

The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) is playing a significant role in social welfare and economic empowerment across various Indonesian regions. In Cilegon, Banten, Baznas has partnered with the local government to address social issues, including providing aid for abandoned individuals and supporting funeral services.

In Central Java, Baznas has distributed Rp5.25 billion in productive capital to 1,750 zakat recipients (mustahik). Each recipient received Rp3 million to develop their businesses. Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen emphasized the importance of monitoring and mentoring these recipients to ensure economic independence. Baznas Central Java reported that its total allocation for productive capital this year aims to reach 3,500 recipients with a total budget of Rp10.5 billion.
