Baznas provides social security for 100,000 vulnerable workers

The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) of Indonesia has launched the 2026 Baznas Social Security (JSB) priority program, which aims to provide social insurance for 100,000 vulnerable workers across the country.

Through a collaboration with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, the program provides six months of coverage for Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Benefits (JKM). The initiative targets individuals meeting the criteria for zakat recipients (mustahik), including religious teachers, farmers, fishermen, small traders, daily laborers, and people with disabilities.

The program is set to operate in at least 10 priority provinces. Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid stated that zakat should serve as an empowerment instrument providing protection, rather than just daily assistance. The distribution plan targets 30 percent of beneficiaries from outermost, frontier, and least developed (3T) regions, with the remaining 70 percent selected based on economic vulnerability.
