BBC secures three-year broadcasting deal for WRC
The BBC has signed a three-year agreement to broadcast the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in the UK from 2027 through 2029. This deal returns live coverage of the motorsport series to free-to-air television in Great Britain.
Coverage will be a collaborative effort involving BBC Scotland, BBC Cymru Wales, and BBC Northern Ireland. The broadcasting package includes live stages from every rally, the decisive Power Stage, one-hour highlight programmes for every round, and extensive coverage of the returning Rally Scotland. Audiences will also have access to digital clips and highlights via BBC iPlayer and other digital platforms.
Rhuanedd Richards, Director of BBC Nations, described the championship as a ‘natural fit’ for the broadcaster. Éric Boullier, CEO of WRC Promoter, noted that the partnership is a key step in increasing the championship’s visibility and reconnecting with fans in the UK.
