Kerry-Lynne Findlay appoints Heather Maahs as interim B.C. Conservative leader and installs loyalist team

B.C. Conservative Party leader Kerry‑Lynne Findlay, who does not yet hold a seat in the provincial legislature, announced a reshuffle of the opposition caucus. She named Chilliwack‑North MLA Heather Maahs as interim leader of the Official Opposition and appointed Prince George‑North Cariboo MLA Sheldon Clare as house leader, replacing Indigenous MLA Á’a:líya Warbus. New deputy house leader, whip, caucus chair and deputy whip were also named, alongside regional lieutenant positions for the Interior, Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Stakeholder‑relations lieutenants include Findlay’s husband, MLA Brent Chapman. In a statement Findlay said the team reflects a “big‑tent” party ready to hold the NDP government to account. A subsequent shadow‑cabinet announcement kept most existing critics, with a few portfolio changes, and the caucus is set to meet in Penticton on July 2‑3.
