Kerry-Lynne Findlay leaves press conference amid election funding allegations

British Columbia Conservative leadership candidate Kerry‑Lynne Findlay convened a press conference outside the provincial legislature on May 25, 2026 to respond to reports that her 2025 federal campaign violated election‑funding rules. The reports alleged that her campaign received undeclared services and permitted foreign nationals to canvass on its behalf.

Findlay said she was unaware of any formal investigation by Elections Canada and maintained she was “ready to govern.” The party’s leadership election organizing committee, which had reviewed the matter on May 22, said it had sought information from the Commissioner of Canada Elections but had received no response, and concluded there was “not enough credible evidence to take further action.”

During the conference, campaign spokesman Robert Eales told reporters, “That’s the decision that was made, and that is all I have time for,” before Findlay refused to answer further questions and departed in a black, tinted‑window SUV after about seven minutes.
