Bắc Ninh police bust fake licence‑plate scheme on VinFast VF 6

After three months of monitoring, the traffic police in Bắc Ninh province used AI‑enabled cameras to track a VinFast VF 6 fitted with a counterfeit licence plate (98E‑010). The plate had previously been issued to a Toyota Wigo and was revoked after the vehicle was sold. The driver replaced the original plate with the fake one to evade detection while exceeding speed limits and running red lights on National Route 1A. On 21 June 2026, authorities stopped the vehicle at km 111 + 600, and the driver admitted to ordering the counterfeit plate online after selling his previous car. Under Vietnamese traffic law, the offence carries a fine of up to 26 million VND, a 10‑point licence suspension and possible vehicle seizure, in addition to penalties for speeding and red‑light violations.
