BCCI to seek Indian government clearance for Bangladesh tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to seek clearance from the Government of India regarding a proposed white-ball tour of Bangladesh. The series, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is, is tentatively scheduled for a window between August 29 and September 15, 2026.

The tour remains uncertain due to strained diplomatic and cricketing relations between the two nations. Tensions previously escalated following a controversy involving the release of Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman from his IPL franchise and Bangladesh's subsequent decision not to travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally requested the series and remains in contact with the BCCI, the Indian board stated it cannot make an independent decision due to security and political sensitivities. If government clearance is not granted, the BCCI is reportedly considering alternative plans, such as hosting a series against Afghanistan in Delhi during the same period.
