Skopje-Blace highway construction begins on second phase

Construction has officially commenced on the second phase of the Skopje-Blace highway, a strategic infrastructure project designed to enhance connectivity between North Macedonia and Kosovo. The new 10.5-kilometer section will run from the Stenkovets interchange to the Blace border crossing.

Due to the complex mountainous terrain, the project is technically demanding and will include five tunnels, eight bridges, 11 underpasses, four galleries, and nine retaining walls. The domestic firm Granit AD Skopje has been appointed as the contractor for the works.

The project is expected to be completed within four years. Financing is supported by a 167.6 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a 30.82 million euro grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework.
