BDS Indonesia urges halt to palm oil exports to Israel
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Indonesia movement is calling on the government to terminate all trade relations with Israel, specifically targeting palm oil exports. Muhammad Syauqi Hafiz, co-founder and initiator of BDS Indonesia, stated that the campaign is part of a broader effort to urge policymakers to sever trade ties due to humanitarian ethics and the ongoing situation in Palestine.
Data from the Ministry of Agriculture and BPS indicates that Indonesia remains a significant supplier of crude palm oil (CPO) to Israel. Research published in the Golden Ratio journal suggests that Indonesia supplied an average of 71.1 percent of Israel's CPO imports between 2020 and 2025. While the Israeli market accounts for less than 0.12 percent of Indonesia's total national CPO exports, researchers noted that current Indonesian export regulations do not differentiate Israel from other destination countries based on diplomatic status.
