Indonesian palm oil exports to Israel
Overview
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Indonesia movement has called on the Indonesian government to terminate all trade relations with Israel, specifically targeting palm oil exports. Muhammad Syauqi Hafiz, co-founder of BDS Indonesia, stated the campaign aims to urge policymakers to sever ties based on humanitarian ethics regarding the situation in Palestine.
Data indicates that Indonesia has been a significant supplier of crude palm oil (CPO) to Israel, with research suggesting Indonesia supplied an average of 71.1 percent of Israel’s CPO imports between 2020 and 2025. While the Israeli market represents less than 0.12 percent of Indonesia’s total national CPO exports, current regulations do not differentiate Israel from other destinations based on diplomatic status.
Statistics from Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) show that CPO exports to Israel reached US$14.6 million between January and September 2024, a decrease from the US$21.60 million recorded in 2025. Despite a lack of official diplomatic relations, bilateral trade continues. Public scrutiny has intensified due to anti-Israel sentiment, including social media allegations that major private companies, such as Wilmar and Sinarmas, may be supplying CPO to Israel via Singapore. These companies have not commented on the allegations.
