BEAC launches SYSTAC2 to modernize CEMAC payment systems

The Bank of Central African States (BEAC) is launching SYSTAC2, a next-generation clearing system designed to modernize financial infrastructure across the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). This technological shift will impact Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea.

Replacing a platform in use since the mid-2000s, SYSTAC2 aims to address the limitations of the previous system regarding mobile money integration, electronic currency growth, and cybersecurity requirements. The new modular architecture is intended to support instant payments, reduce transaction processing times, and lower operational costs for commercial banks in the region.
