Beach cleanup projects launch in Villa del Mar and Ensenada, Mexico

A waste‑management plan for Villa del Mar beach was developed by Oswaldo de Jesús Huerta, a chemical‑engineering graduate, to address the roughly one tonne of litter collected daily. The proposal includes separating solid waste, installing containers, and pursuing a "Playa Vida del Mar" certification that would assess water quality and tourist perception.

Separately, the Baja California Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development organized a community‑wide beach‑cleaning event on 4 June at Parque Estatal Arroyo San Miguel in Ensenada. Volunteers were invited to collect and separate trash, with guidance on protective gear and safety, as part of the state's program to remove plastics from the coast and protect marine ecosystems.
