Beach volleyball teams compete in Punta Cana NORCECA tour

Top beach volleyball pairs from Cuba and Puerto Rico are set to compete in the final stage of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The tournament serves as a critical competitive platform for regional athletes aiming for major international qualifications.

The Cuban men’s duo, Eblis Veranes and Damián Gómez, enter the competition as Central American and Caribbean champions. They aim to improve their ninth-place regional ranking to secure one of the seven spots available for the Pan American Games in Lima. The Cuban women’s team, consisting of Maikelín Drik and Kailin Garrido, currently ranks tenth in the region and will face competitors from 13 nations, including teams from Mexico and Canada.

Puerto Rican athletes are also participating as part of their preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games Qualifiers. The women’s squad features Alanis Navas and Keishlyann Enid Sánchez Viera, while the men’s team includes William Rivera Figueroa and Diego Andres Rosich Oliver. Following the Punta Cana event, Puerto Rico will host a regional qualification tournament in Vega Baja in November.
