NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Punta Cana
Overview
The 10th Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Classic, held at Los Corales beach from October 23 to 25, has concluded. The tournament served as a critical ranking event for athletes seeking qualification for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games and preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In the women’s division, the United States duo of Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep secured the gold medal, defeating Puerto Rico’s Keishlyann Sánchez and Allanis Navas with a score of 2-0 (21-12, 21-12). Mexico’s Susana Torres and Abril Flores earned the bronze medal after defeating a Cuban pair.
The men’s division saw Mexico’s Carlos Andrés Ayala and Inés Lares claim the championship, defeating Cuba’s Damián Gómez and Eblis Veranes in three sets (21-19, 13-21, 15-12). Puerto Rico’s Diego Rosich and William Rivera took the bronze medal following a 2-1 victory over the Dominican Republic’s Hayerling De Jesús and Oscar Martínez.
As noted by Amós Anglada, technical vice president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation (Fedovoli), the event carried significant weight because results awarded “double the points compared to regular circuit stages.” The tournament featured athletes from 14 nations and was organized by a committee led by Ernesto Veloz of ASOLESTE, in collaboration with Fedovoli and Marketing Sport Event.
