Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields Forever' Sparks New Cross‑Cultural Cover

The Beatles released the double‑A‑side single "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" in February 1967. The track was built from two separate recordings, featured unconventional arrangements and studio techniques, and has been hailed by producer George Martin as one of the group's most revolutionary records.

In July 2026, British bassist Jah Wobble and Chinese musician Tian Qiyi issued a new interpretation of the song on the album *Mystic Liverpool: The Beatles’ Psychedelic Songbook*. Their version adds a heavy dub‑style bass line, drums, and a blend of Chinese guzheng, erhu, and Mongolian morin khuur, creating a denser, more ritualistic sound while retaining the original melody.
