Jah Wobble Beatles cross‑cultural album

Overview

In June 2026 former Public Image Ltd bassist Jah Wobble announced a collaboration with the Liverpool‑based duo Tian Qiai on a Beatles‑inspired project titled *Mystic Liverpool: The Beatles’ Psychedelic Songbook*. The album, set for an 14 August release on Cherry Red Records and Wobble’s 30 Hertz label, reimagines mid‑60s Beatles tracks using dub bass, Chinese and Mongolian instruments, and experimental production.

On 25 July the duo issued a new version of “Strawberry Fields Forever” as the opening track. The recording blends Wobble’s dub‑style basslines with erhu, morin khuur, yangqin and guzheng, performed by Charlie Wardle, John T Wardle and Zi Lan Liao. It exemplifies the cross‑cultural fusion central to the album.

The record will also reinterpret “Tomorrow Never Knows”, “Within You Without You” and “I Am The Walrus”. To promote the release, Wobble and Tian Qiai will tour the UK in August and September, with additional concerts scheduled in Belgium for November.
