The murder trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon has commenced in the NSW Supreme Court in Sydney. Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, as well as an additional charge of aggravated break and enter.

Prosecutors allege that Lamarre-Condon developed an obsessive infatuation with Baird following their relationship in 2022 and 2023. The prosecution claims he stalked Baird, tampered with his phone, and used his position as a police officer to obtain CCTV footage. On February 19, 2024, Lamarre-Condon allegedly entered the Paddington home disguised as an Uber Eats rider to shoot both men. The victims' bodies were later discovered in surf bags in a water hole southwest of Sydney.

Lamarre-Condon's defense team has argued that he acted in self-defense. His barrister, John Stratton, SC, stated that the accused entered the home to retrieve personal belongings and that a struggle ensued when Baird failed to recognize him due to the disguise. The defense also claims that Davies was accidentally shot during a struggle for the weapon.

A plea offer from Lamarre-Condon to admit to the manslaughter of Jesse Baird was rejected by prosecutors at the start of the proceedings. The trial is expected to last approximately 12 weeks.
