Defense barrister John Stratton SC argued that the accused entered the home to retrieve personal belongings, such as jewelry, while wearing a motorbike helmet and high-visibility clothing to avoid recognition. The defense contends that the fatal shootings occurred during a struggle when Baird seized Lamarre-Condon’s firearm, causing it to discharge. It is further alleged that during a subsequent encounter, Luke Davies pulled the trigger, fatally shooting himself.
