Bebuling STOLPort completes successful trial flight in Sarawak

The Bebuling Short Take-Off and Landing (STOLPort) in Sarawak's Betong Division successfully completed its first trial flight on 18 September. The completion of the trial marks the end of the facility's construction phase.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stated that while the trial was successful, a specific date for the commencement of commercial operations has not yet been determined. Further discussions are required to finalize operational requirements and commercial flight schedules.

Developed at a cost of approximately RM248 million, the facility features a 1.119-kilometre runway designed for aircraft such as the King Air. Beyond passenger connectivity, the STOLPort is expected to support cargo operations and bolster the local economy by linking nearby agricultural facilities, including a 1,000-hectare Agro Park and a packaging center, to external markets. The airport is also anticipated to serve as a gateway for tourism to areas like Batang Ai.
