Bechtel advances in Serbia energy project as Energoinvest expands research
The American construction firm Bechtel is advancing toward a major energy project in Serbia. The company, partnering with the Turkish firm ENKA, is the sole bidder to meet the requirements for the Đerdap 3 reversible hydroelectric plant project. This project, estimated to cost approximately 2.6 billion euros, aims to produce up to 1,800 megawatts of power. Serbia has signed a contract with a consortium led by the Institute for Water Management ‘Jaroslav Černi’ to develop technical documentation, with the goal of completing all documentation by 2029.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Energoinvest has entered into a cooperation agreement with the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and Universal Energetics Inc. This partnership focuses on researching the potential of methane from coal deposits and exploring geothermal energy resources. The collaboration aims to assess the technical and economic feasibility of these resources to enhance long-term energy security in the region.
