Begoña Gómez trial: Judge Peinado misses deadline to open oral proceedings

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has yet to issue the order to open the oral trial against Begoña Gómez, despite the deadline having passed three business days ago on Friday the 11th.

The delay follows legal challenges raised by Gómez's defense, led by attorney Jaime Campaner, who argues that the prosecution's indictment failed to comply with legal requirements and is therefore ineffective.

While the popular prosecution group Hazte Oír maintains that the preliminary hearing held on September 8th complied with the law, the central issue remains whether the indictment's written description of the punishable facts meets the clarity and conciseness required by the Criminal Procedure Law and the Organic Law of the Jury Tribunal (LOTJ).
