Beijing implements total ban on drone possession
Beijing authorities have implemented a total ban on the possession of drones within the capital, requiring residents to either sell their devices or move them out of the city by November 15. This new regulation overrides previous measures introduced in May, which had only prohibited new sales and required existing owners to register their devices with the police.
In response to the mandate, residents have begun queuing at authorized buyback sites and DJI stores to offload their equipment. The sudden restriction has led to public frustration regarding property rights and low resale values. While DJI remains a global leader in the consumer drone market, the company is now prohibited from selling these devices within Beijing.
