Beko Siena reindustrialization: Ministerial meeting postponed to October 8

A ministerial meeting regarding the reindustrialization of the former Beko plant in Siena has been postponed from October 1 to October 8. The delay comes as efforts to identify a new industrial operator enter a more focused phase.

According to Beko management, the advisor Sermet initially contacted over 200 companies. This process has since been narrowed down to approximately 10 entities, with a final selection of 4 to 6 potential candidates expected in the electronics, industrial automation, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Labor unions, including Uilm and Fim Cisl, expressed concern over the lack of substantial progress and the ongoing uncertainty. Key unresolved issues include the necessity of environmental remediation, such as asbestos removal and soil interventions, to make the site attractive to new investors. Currently, 148 workers remain at the facility, with redundancy protections extended through December 2027.
