Beko Siena plant reindustrialization process

Overview

Labor unions, including Fim Cisl, Fiom Cgil, and Uilm Uil, have demanded transparency regarding the reindustrialization plan for the Beko plant in Siena. Following interest from the Tea Group of Signa and Galenica Senese, unions expressed concern over a lack of communication and requested specific details on investments, production types, and job guarantees.

A ministerial meeting intended to address these issues was postponed from October 1 to October 8. Beko management reported that an advisor, Sermet, narrowed a list of over 200 contacted companies down to approximately 10 entities, with a final selection of 4 to 6 candidates expected in the pharmaceutical, electronics, or industrial automation sectors.

Unions continue to cite uncertainty, noting that unresolved environmental remediation requirements, such as soil interventions and asbestos removal, remain necessary to attract investors. Currently, 148 workers are at the facility with redundancy protections lasting until December 2027.
