Belgian and French police launch major border operation from De Panne to Doornik

On 11 June 2026, a joint Belgian‑French police and customs operation, dubbed FUTURE, was carried out along the border corridor from De Panne to Doornik. The raid involved about 100 police units from both countries and continued through rain‑soaked conditions until the early hours of 12 June.

Belgian authorities reported checking 707 vehicles—including buses—and 447 individuals, issuing 13 prosecution reports, seizing a small amount of drugs and a large nitrous‑oxide cylinder, and making two arrests. Traffic offences generated 29 reports, five driver’s licences were revoked on the spot and one uninsured vehicle was impounded. Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin visited the site in Moeskroen, where he was received in a temporary tent.

The operation was supported by multiple police zones, the Federal Police, the customs service and partner agencies such as the immigration office and maritime police.
