Belgian police seize 12 kg of heroin and arrest suspects in tram assault

Police in Brussels West seized more than 12 kilograms of heroin, 1.6 kg of cocaine and cash totaling over €20,000 after raids on apartments in Anderlecht and a café in Molenbeek, leading to the arrest of two suspects linked to a drug‑distribution network.

In a separate incident, authorities arrested an 18‑year‑old from Ninove and other youths after a violent clash on a coastal tram in De Haan left four ticket inspectors injured, one of them permanently incapacitated. The suspects faced charges of intentional assault and the incident prompted calls for better protection of transport staff.
