Belgian police conduct large drug raids, arrest suspects and seize cannabis, weapons and vehicles

The Kempen North‑East police zone in Belgium launched a large‑scale operation across the Kempen region, cooperating with neighbouring zones, the federal police and the prosecutor’s office. Using a drug‑sniffing dog and a police helicopter, officers carried out targeted checks that resulted in nine arrests, the seizure of six vehicles and the confiscation of illegal ammunition. The raids also uncovered a stolen vehicle from Germany, led to four house searches for drug possession or trafficking, and generated numerous traffic violations, including drivers testing positive for drugs.

In Brussels‑West’s Molenbeek district, police executed the “Hydre” raid on May 5 as part of a drug‑action plan. The operation seized 26 kg of cannabis, more than 30 000 pills (Pregabalin and Tramadol), 29.8 g of ecstasy, €3 000 in cash and various drug‑handling equipment. Three suspects were arrested and transferred to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office on charges of drug trafficking, association‑linked possession and illegal medication trade.
