Belgium and Netherlands forecast milder summer weather as heatwave eases

Belgian meteorologist David Dehenauw expects the first three weeks of July to be several degrees warmer than the long‑term average of 23 °C, and he notes that the official heatwave has not yet ended because temperatures have not fallen below 25 °C. However, forecasts show stable, sunny conditions for the start of the school holidays, with only a slight chance of isolated showers.

In the Netherlands, after a week of record‑breaking heat, a west‑to‑north‑west wind will bring cooler ocean air. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 20 °C on the coast and 25‑27 °C inland on Monday and Tuesday, ending the official heatwave nationally. A regional heatwave may persist in the southeast for up to three weeks, but overall the forecast calls for dry, sunny weather through the weekend.
