Belgium heating costs: rising oil prices and boiler maintenance estimates

In Belgium, heating costs and fuel prices are seeing adjustments in 2026. Heating oil (mazout) prices are increasing, with the official maximum price for H0/H7 gas oil set at €1.4658 per liter for orders of 2,000 liters or more starting September 9, 2026. For orders under 2,000 liters, the maximum price is €1.5063 per liter.

Regarding maintenance, the average cost for gas boiler servicing in 2026 is expected to range between €150 and €200 excluding VAT. For oil-fired boilers, maintenance costs are higher, typically between €150 and €250 excluding VAT. Due to the requirement for annual maintenance, oil boilers incur higher long-term costs compared to gas boilers, which generally require servicing every two years.
